Annual Summit 2025 on competitiveness & trade in a deglobalizing world
Opening keynote by Ms Hassiba Benamara, Economic Affairs Officer, Transport Section, Trade Logistics Branch, Division on Technology and Logistics United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD): A global trade update amid disruption and uncertainty.
Maritime transport serves as the main artery of global trade. Intricate networks of shipping firms and routes, ports, and maritime competitiveness have enabled globalisation and strengthened the interconnectedness of the world economy. However, the sector is facing numerous challenges that threaten the effectiveness (doing the right things), efficiency (doing the right things right), and efficacy (doing the right things right with the right resources – people, organisation, and tools) of maritime transport – well also its competitiveness, resilience and sustainability.
Shipping & Offshore Network cordially invites to a discussion and exploration of the above dire topics to create an arena for deep reflection, better understanding and inspiration for a prosperous future for maritime transport.
Special focus of the year's Annual Summit:
A: Maritime de-globalisation/regionalisation: more hype than reality?
B: Likely consequences and implications to shipping by the elusive evidence of rising de-globalisation?
C: How to embrace de-globalisation through improved competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability – the way forward?
Please join our discussion - see you at Annual Summit 2025, taking place on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 April at Losby Gods.
